| In 2007 the Mayor of Maui County changed the county policies regarding residential vacation rental properties. Many properties at that time had been operating illegally for years. Kahana Nui Villa has always operated as a legal vacation rental. When the administration changed the policy, they required us to reapply for our permit. So that is what we did - we followed the rules and went through the 20 month process and received our permit in November of 2009. As of now we are one of only 8 fully permitted legal vacation rental homes on Maui. When making the decision to rent a vacation home on Maui you should be very concerned with whether or not the home is fully permitted and legal. The county of Maui has been shutting down unpermitted illegal vacation rentals for the past few years and this could impact your trip if this happened to the home that you had booked.
